SUFU Position Statement Update on the Use of Synthetic Midurethral Slings
posted: November 22, 2021
Dear SUFU Members,
In January of 2014, the Society of Urodynamics, Female Pelvic Medicine and Urogenital Reconstruction (SUFU) and American Urogynecologic Society (AUGS) developed a Position Statement to support the use of the synthetic midurethral sling (MUS) for the surgical management of stress urinary incontinence (SUI).
There have been several revisions to reflect clinical and scientific advances in the use of mesh. The Position Statement was recently reviewed and revised by a SUFU and AUGS appointed writing group. The updated statement is being jointly published by Neurourology and Urodynamics and Female Pelvic Medicine & Reconstructive Surgery today. In conjunction with the statement the writing group developed patient and provider FAQs in support of the Position Paper.
If you have any questions, please reach out to the SUFU Executive Office at info@sufuorg.com.
Sincerely,
SUFU Executive Committee
